Our first ultra back in 2017. With assistance from North Derbyshire Running Club right from the off and latterly with the support of The Derby Runner and Runfurther, the Spire Ultra has grown rapidly from its modest beginnings.
The routemap below gives you an overview of the route. COVID disrupted the 2020 event and necessitated its start from High Ashes Rural Project. Once again COVID has had an impact and we are starting from HARP (red circle) in 2021. North Wingfield Community Resource Centre does not feature in any part of this year’s race so do not drive / run there!
The route tracks around in a clockwise loop. The route largely follows the scenic Chesterfield Round Walk with the exception of the following 4 route deviations taken for road safety;
- Matlock Road / Darley Road crossing
- Chander Hill /Holymoorside
- Hundall / Chesterfield Canal
- West Wood / Sutton Scarsdale Hall
The rest of the route remains on the Chesterfield Round Walk.
The link takes you to the Mapometer website. Follow this to view the route in more detail and export the GPX file to your navigational device (if using). (Actions tab on the left of the Mapometer page will facilitate this). Route notes describe the course and relay change points.
Entries are through https://www.sientries.co.uk/event.php?event_id=7122 note, as of 20th April the waiting list has been cleared and we have a limited number of spaces remaining.
The following document contains info you need to follow to ensure a safe, COVID compliant event. (also contains kit / relay info)
