About Us

First Light Active is managed by Jamie Glazebrook, a Mountain Leader with 30 years’ experience of trekking and mountaineering and over 70 ultra-trail race finishes. Being an outdoorsy person all his life, thanks mainly to being brought up in a small farming hamlet, Jamie progressed to the more adventurous side thanks to his early involvement with Operation Raleigh – attending expeditions and delivering training, through to developing Groundwork Trust’s youth re-engagement programmes and more recently with the Prince’s Trust. Using his experiences from the ultra running scene, Jamie and his wife Clare developed the Spire Ultra which saw its debut in 2017. A chance to combine all that he likes best into a business lead to the development of First Light Active and a broadening of the scope of activities offered.
Jamie is a qualified Mountain Leader and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Expedition Assessor.  He is also a member of the Mountain Training Association and the British Mountaineering Council. Jamie has very strong environmental ethics and all of his events operate on a low key / minimal impact basis.
Jamie also undertakes freelance guiding and training work on behalf of other challenge organisers in the mountainous areas of the UK.
